Labor Day Weekend Esp 3/3
❉❉ Rocky Mountain National Park ❉❉
If Mount Tahan (Gunung Tahan) is the backbone of Peninsular Malaysia, then the backbone of the U.S. continent is called Rocky Mountain (Rockies). Formed about 76 million years ago, Rockies stretch more than 3,000 miles (4,830 km) from the northernmost part of British Columbia, in western Canada, to New Mexico, in the southwestern United States (Wikipedia, 2010, pp. 1).
Of course, it's impossible for us to travel across Rockies within a day, plus I don't really adore outdoor adventure, we chose the typical tourist path instead: Rocky Mountain National Park.
Because the highest peak of the park is about 14,255 feet in elevation, Chean urged me to bring my jacket. But I grabbed my favorite rice crackers along with me too :p
And my baby Miyaki. He's super sleepy but still as cute as always...
And my new shoes from Nike ❤❤
Took the backseat so I can nap a bit, I didn't get enough sleep at all. Chean said some routes in the park will be closed during fall & winter due to the harsh weather, we need to act fast! He cruelly dragged me out of bed and pushed me into his car :(
See, I looked extremely exhausted lah Chean, hate you!!!
But look at these views...
W.O.W!!! Layers upon layers of endless mountain views~~
Ok lah, I forgive you Chean. Muaks ❤❤
The most mysterious experience of that day wasn't these breathtaking and magnificent views and landscapes that we saw nor the formation of this great Rockies that we understand, it's F.A.T.E that wow us!
Remember Qian Qian & Wudi?
We met them at the same viewpoint without knowing they will visit the park on the same day~~ What a coincident!!! I can't believe this at all. (Again, it proved that Boulder is a super small town).
But we traveled separately after taking that pic. They are hikers while Chean & I are tourists, completely different routes :p Anyway, it's beyond happy! We continued our journey and stopped by at the visitor center, told you, we are tourists.
Look at Miyaki, his face was being washed off by the wind! LOL
He's still very petite, stop saying he's fat, he's not, it's the illusion of his furry coat!
I think he kinda understands and can totally feel the energy from all the comments, that's why he's putting himself on diet now :p Serious one.
** Miyaki is too cute until I have to include all these pics here ❤❤
Pic taken while entering the gate.
Well, you need to purchase a pass to enter Rockies National Park. We got the annual one which costs US$ 40, worth it ;)
The map we got at the visitor center. See our driving route? It'll guide us to the highest peak!!!
Wooo Hooo~~ I'm on the top of the world. No lah, not yet :p That's another view point.
With Chean~~
Chean at the higher view point. I know too many view points man!
Then you ask, so which one is the highest? And I answer you sincerely, I don't have pic for that. Yup, we do drove to the highest peak but I was actually crying and screaming to go home.
Ok, I'm not exaggerating when I say this. First, the roads are extremely windy and dangerous, it's like you're driving next to the cliff. Second, the wind was super strong, even when I was sitting in the car, you feel that your vehicle can be easily blown off by the wind. Now you understand why is this route only open during summer. Third, I have acrophobia, I'm super afraid of height. Fourth, we were having a super bad fight. Apparently, Mr. Brave Chean didn't think the road condition was real dangerous and he always concludes my fears as: I think too much. Bah.
This kinda ended the trip :p Don't worry, we are doing awesome now because he agrees he will never bring my to any dangerous places which I defined by my own term, and I agree to let him return to the highest peak again, with his friends or by himself. If that's the case, he will probably snatch Miyaki or kidnap Miyaki to go with him, so please pray for Miyaki, my poor baby.
Ok, one last view to share before I ended this post.
To be frank, I do love Rocky Mountain National Park, just not its highest peak and crazy roads. If you happen to visit Colorado, remember to stop by and mark your steps here, it's definitely a lifetime experience that worth to keep.
Me? I'll be back for sure. Told you right, I'm fine as long as I get rid of that highest peak with 14,255 feet in elevation. I'm a coward when it comes to mountain and sea, so what @.@
Kisses,
Bev
