¡Buenas Noches!

That means "good evening everyone" in Spanish (plural)~~ Kinda miss the intensive Spanish language learning experience when I was in UPM. Yup, I studied at local uni, University Putra Malaysia before pursuing MBA in the U.S. ^___^V That was... ermm, 7 years ago I guess. I still remember how to speak & read a little but I have no idea how I passed those exams with all As back then @.@

Anyway, my limited Spanish is sufficient enough for us to survive or maybe Mexicans are too kind & polite to pretend that they understand me, hehe... Don't care, at least I'm able to understand the basic conversation, to read the menu and to greet everyone warmly in Spanish, oh, also able to bargain a little at the flea market. P.R.O.U.D.

But of course, "Lo siento, me no habla Español" is the most frequently used phrase for me still. LOL... Oh, that actually means "Sorry, I don't speak Spanish" (=.=)lll

Car Rental & Shopping in Cancun

We took a cab & went to La Isla Shopping Mall after dinner, mainly to pick a rental car we initially booked via Budget.com for our Chichén Itzá trip, and of course to shop a little as well. However, the car rental process & insurance are far more complicated than we thought, albeit the research & policies we have studied!!!

First, we booked the car for US$ 35++ per day on our AmEx, but we were informed to have a total amount of US$ 4,500 charged on the card instead, like a refundable deposit, due to the mandatory liability insurance and various types of insurance policies which we didn't aware of @.@ C'mon, that's so much like us buying the Ford sedan instead of renting it! So risky, there's also a chance that we may not get full refund, it's Mexico and we are unfamiliar with the law & regulations. When there's a doubt, don't do it.

Chean told the Budget staff our AmEx should cover all rental car insurance in Mexico & we just have to pay a certain reasonable amount for the liability insurance. We even showed him the policy statement from AmEx but he seemed foggy about that. Sigh, he no habla Inglés and I no habla español. Communication breakdown and no manager around after 9pm. All the words I can understand were 45 hundreds, mandatory, insurance, must pay, credit card, etc... No further explanation or discussion. He is very nice & friendly but it's a little frustrated still.

Meh...

When Chean about to swipe the card, I said NO, that's crazy & unreasonable, let's not get the rental car but sign up for the Chichén Itzá first-class bus tour at our hotel! Chean puzzled a little, he doesn't want me to go through such hectic 12-hour tour and the bumpy 6-hour ride. But guess what, I'm happy that we did join the tour! It wasn't agitated as we thought, in fact, it was so much fun & informative, and we met many interesting people too.

Yay~~ Preggie Bev finally made a wise decision! Stay tuned for more stories about our Chichén Itzá tour. That's the most rewarding experience throughout the trip!!!

Ok, enough talking bout car rental, ready to shop around?

#26 Lots of high-end stores in La Isla Shopping Mall. Guilty hubby kept apologizing and asked me to get something if I like. Hmm... sadly nothing catches my eyes though.

BN_27
#27 It supposed to be a laid-back & leisure trip, thus I don't want the indulge the shopaholic side of me too much this time. Wah, I'm so mature now, impress or not?

Hehe... Actually not. I was pretty tedious that time and most of the branded accessories priced the same as those in the U.S., plus I can hardly fit in XS/S anymore. No mood to shop at all (T_____T) Call me vain or crazy, I just want to buy clothes that I can wear after giving birth, no maternity clothes for me, sorry Motherhood & GapMaternity.

Kinda blasé about the Hotel Zone piccies? Let's take a walk at the local flea market in Cancun downtown next. It's a whole new different experience. See you all again soon~~

XOXO,
Bev
