B.E.N.E.V.O.L.E.N.C.E
According to Merriam-Webster, the definition of benevolence stands for a) an act of kindness, or, b) a generous gift. I just can't think of any word that could accurately describe a mighty meaningful charity project which my friend is currently working on in India.
David, that's how I address him. We first met at Marylhurst University's bookstore few years ago when I was pursuing my MBA degree in Portland. He is a Malaysian Indian but speaks Mandarin fluently. And he is a monk, that's what make our first conversation super interesting. I mean, meeting a Malaysian in Portland is already as precious as seeing a shooting star, but meeting a genuine friend like David that comes from such unique background is like seeing meteor shower to me! Like it only happens once in every thousand years or so... Chinese love to call this "緣份", more abstract than "fate". I see it that way too.
Few weeks ago, I came across one of David's Facebook status updates that touches my heart... And I thought I should really share this out...
#1
#2 David (right) is busy rolling his sleeves up, passionately building a school for children in India.
#3 The unfinished school building that remains partially constructed; the broken roof is desperately in need of repair...
#4 Another unfinished building being used as storeroom.
#5 Preparing foods...
#6 Making Indian bread at school canteen.
#7 Cracked ceiling that seemed like they could fall at any time.
#8 Poor corridor condition that shouts for serious maintenance.
#9 The view of the current classroom where underprivileged children get basic education and playtime.
#10 David & the happy kids.
I believe all children deserve access to basic education and a safe learning environment, with a little effort, we can empower and help them escape poverty. Everything counts, and a little effort goes a long way.
Now...
Here's what you can do in order to contribute and be part of this meaningful project.

Love the quote they use on their site:
"If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one." -- Mother Teresa
Let's make the world a better place for these unfortunate and disadvantaged children. May many blessings come to you and your family! Thank you for reading~~
