Road Trip 2011 - Santa Fe Part I
Hello Asia, are you ready for a sweet escape to Santa Fe, Mex Mexico?
I hear you, I'm super ready too, but allow me to flesh out some basic facts for you before sharing 50 awesome photos...
New Mexico is a state located in the southwest and western regions of the United States. Yup, I didn't travel to Mexico, but New Mexico instead. Meanwhile, Santa Fe--means "holy faith" in Spanish--is the capital of New Mexico, also reigns as the oldest capital city in the States.
Its unique blend of multi-culturalism, spectacular landscape, historic attractions and laid-back community are the fundamental factors that make this road trip a rewarding one. I never like road trip, but Santa Fe is truly like no other city in the U.S, you just have to see it (see the photos below, I mean) to believe it.
To begin, let's start with the hotel.
#1 The Lodge at Santa Fe.
It's a decent hotel but I wouldn't recommend this place because it is located opposite of Santa Fe National Cemetery! S.C.A.R.Y!!! Although the hotel receptionist reassured me that it's not haunted and even upgraded my room to a mini suite, I still wish I googled the location harder before reserving it. But other than its unbefitting location, everything is alright.
#1 The mini suite is exquisitely decorated by Native American arts and crafts.
#2
#3 They smell funny to me though, I ended up getting my own shampoo & shower gel at Walgreens :p
#4 Aww... Miyaki... He seemed miserable at first...
#5 But settled down as soon as he saw his comfy bed *\^o^/*
#6 Oh, the receptionist even offered us complimentary breakfast the next morning; Well, I'm not that hard to please ok.
#7 Perfect portion for a dieter ;)
#8 A random pic Chean took.
#9 At the hotel dinning hall.
#10
#11
#12
#13 Random shots with my fave maxi dress, taken outside of the hotel ❤❤
#14 The Lensic, Santa Fe's Performing Arts Center in downtown.
#15 Lonely donkey waited on the sidewalk.
#16 Most of the buildings in Santa Fe look like "roti" (bread in Malay) to me, how cute! Guess what, there are stories behind this unique adobe charm, you have to stick around to find out.
#17 That's the New Mexico Museum of Art behind me.
#18
#19 You have seen me doing this no matter where I go. No doubt, penny souvenir is a must-have! But this one required the most effort, I'm sure you can tell.
#20 F.I.N.A.L.L.Y =.=lll
#21 At Santa Fe Plaza.
#22
#23 Shopping is fun, always :D
#24
#25
#26
#27
#28 St. Francis Cathedral Basilica.
#29
#30
#31 Fancy an Easter Egg? LOL...
#32 The Bronze Doors.
#33 There is a total of twenty bronze panels; each panel depicts scenes and events in the history of the church in Santa Fe.
#34
#35 Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we didn't get to take a closer look due to the church service preparation.
#36
#37
#38
#39
#40 I wish...
#41
#42
#43
#44 Mother of Life.
#45
#46
#47 Hah, cute!
#48 With another roti-like building :p
#49
#50 Strolling around downtown and heading to the next stop.
Anyone down for another historical treasure? Alright, I'm gonna off to work on more pictures. See you soon!
Happy reading~~
Quick update to your FAQ:
Miyaki enjoyed himself and received 5 stars treatment in the hotel while we were sightseeing in Santa Fe. Yup, that's a pet friendly hotel, you just need to pay extra to accommodate your pampered pooch ;)
Adios,
Bev
