Hace Poco

I'm not introducing any new alien term, hace poco stands for recently in Spanish. My friends and family have been impatiently complained about my lack of blogging. Despite heavy load assignments, I'm doing great. My recent life is about meeting new friends and searching nice restaurants that open late (my classes end at 9.15pm, it is impossible for me to cook).

Sayako from Japan too (right).

From left to right, Leo (Taiwan), Lulu (Taiwan), Sayako (Japan), Karin (Taiwan) and Beverly (rare species from Malaysia).

How we meet one another? Hmm...Long story though. Don't mistaken, we are not classmates. They come here to enhance and improve their English proficiency and I, volunteer myself as a conversation partner to help them feel comfortable to use English in daily conversation. Fate brought us together and I really appreciate the opportunity to meet friends around the world.

Speaking of opportunity, my late classes allow me to dine out late on every Monday and Thursday. Most of the restaurants in Portland close at 9pm during weekdays, it's a challenging task for me to search for yummy foods with limited choices. Somehow I found one.

street
Jake's Restaurant, famous in seafoods. I chose to dine along the street for summer sake.

me
I look exhausted after my class usually.

wings
Buffalo Wings with blue cheese (I hate blue cheese), US$ 1.99.

wrap
Shrimps wraps, US$ 1.99.

crawfish
Crawfishes, US$ 3.99.

Ohh, I ordered a New England clam chowder (US$ 7.99) too but forgot to take picture. Too hungry I supposed. Hehe...Those foods are not very impressive but eatable. I just want to stuff myself! And those foods are surprisingly cheap during happy hours. What can I ask for more?
